About Lorde‘s New Album, Virgin, is the fourth studio album from New Zealand artist Lorde, released on June 27, 2025.
The title and album cover could be in reference to a newsletter sent out in September of 2023, as well as her website update upon “What Was That”’s release, where she mentioned that she stopped taking birth control:
The little yellow pill I took every morning for thousands of mornings since I was 15, I stopped taking it 5 days ago. Gonna see how it goes.
Of course, if we’re meant to assume the X-ray image on the album cover is, in fact, a depiction of Lorde’s own pelvic innards, then there’s little wonder she stopped taking those “little yellow pills” — as it’s clearly evident she’s been fitted with an IUD. Perhaps she stopped taking birth control, but she certainly hasn’t stopped using birth control.
Lorde featured the likes of no artists on the album project.
